How to Read an AI Trading Signal Report (AIRV Guide for Beginners)

5 min readArchana · AIRV Research Analyst29 April 2026

Every morning by 9:30 AM IST, AIRV publishes a signal report for the day. If you're new to the platform — or to AI trading signals in general — this post explains exactly what each field means and how to use the information.

What a Typical AIRV Signal Report Looks Like

Each day's report contains up to 5 stock signals. Here's a sample signal entry:

Stock: PERSISTENT
Exchange: NSE | Segment: Midcap 60
Score: 88 / 100
Category: HIGH CONVICTION

Entry: ₹5,842 (Limit @ LTP)
Target T1: ₹6,076 (+4.0%)
Stop Loss: ₹5,550 (-5.0%)
Position Size: ₹7,500 (1.5× base)

RSI: 34 (oversold)
Sentiment: Positive (earnings beat, analyst upgrades)
Trend: Above 20-day MA, below 50-day MA
Volume: 1.8× 5-day average

Let's break down every field.

The Score (0–100)

The composite AI score is the most important number. It combines five sub-scores:

| Component | Max Score | What's Good | |---|---|---| | RSI | 20 | 14+ (RSI 25–40 range) | | Grok Sentiment | 20 | 14+ (positive news context) | | Claude Fundamentals | 30 | 22+ (strong business quality) | | Volume | 15 | 11+ (above-average volume) | | Trend | 15 | 11+ (above key moving averages) |

Scores above 85 are considered high conviction. Below 65 we don't signal the stock at all. Our free plan shows 2 signals, pro plan shows up to 10 — but all meet the minimum threshold.

Deep dive: How the AI picks stocks.

Entry Price

The entry is always a limit order at LTP (Last Traded Price) placed at 9:32 AM IST. This is the price the AI recorded when generating the signal.

Important: By 9:32 AM, the actual LTP may have moved. If the stock opens 2% higher, your limit order may not fill — which is intentional. We'd rather miss a trade than chase a stock that's already moved significantly.

If the order doesn't fill by end of day, it cancels automatically (Day validity). The AI will rescore the stock for the next day if it still looks interesting.

Target T1 (+4%)

The first profit target is always set at +4% above entry. When this triggers:

  • 50% of your position is sold via a limit sell order
  • The remaining 50% continues with a tightened trailing stop

Why +4%? Based on backtested data across the 110-stock universe, a 4% target hits within 3–5 trading days on average for high-conviction signals. Less than 4% and the risk-reward ratio isn't worth the trade costs. More than 4% and the hit rate drops sharply.

See stop-loss and exit strategy details.

Stop Loss (-5%)

Set at -5% below entry, using an SL-M (Stop Loss Market) order. This order is placed immediately after the buy fills.

The -5% level is calibrated so that:

  • Normal daily volatility (1–2%) doesn't trigger it
  • Real adverse moves trigger it quickly enough to cap damage
  • The risk-reward ratio (−5% loss vs +4% target) is acceptable given our signal hit rate

Position Size

The size is determined by the signal score and the CIO market assessment:

| Score | Multiplier | Base ₹5,000 | Actual Position | |---|---|---|---| | 95+ | 2× | ₹5,000 | ₹10,000 | | 85–94 | 1.5× | ₹5,000 | ₹7,500 | | 75–84 | 1× | ₹5,000 | ₹5,000 | | 65–74 | 0.5× | ₹5,000 | ₹2,500 |

The base of ₹5,000 is the default on the Basic plan. On Pro, you can adjust the base to match your capital.

If the CIO gate is YELLOW (cautious market), all sizes are reduced by 30–50%. RED = no orders placed.

RSI Reading

The RSI value shows where the stock sits on its momentum cycle right now. For our signals, we look for RSI in the 25–45 range — oversold or recovering from oversold. This is where reversal setups form.

An RSI of 34 (as in the example above) means the stock has been selling off and is entering potential reversal territory. Combined with the other signals, it contributes to a high overall score.

Sentiment Reading

This is the Grok AI layer. It summarises recent news, earnings announcements, analyst notes, and sector news into a simple sentiment:

  • Positive: Tailwinds — earnings beat, analyst upgrades, sector doing well
  • Neutral: No major news either way
  • Negative: Headwinds — but we wouldn't signal a stock with negative sentiment unless other factors strongly override it

Trend Context

Three key levels are checked:

  • Above/below 20-day moving average: Short-term trend direction
  • Above/below 50-day moving average: Medium-term trend
  • Sector relative strength: Is this stock outperforming its sector peers?

The best setups are stocks that are above the 20-day MA (short-term recovery) but still below the 50-day MA (not yet overbought on the medium term). This is the sweet spot where momentum is building but hasn't run.

What to Do With the Signal

If you're on auto-trading (Basic/Pro plan with AngelOne connected): Nothing. Orders are placed automatically at 9:32 AM. Check your AngelOne app after 9:35 AM to see what filled.

If you're on the free plan (manual execution):

  1. Note the stock name and entry price before 9:32 AM
  2. At 9:32 AM, place a limit buy order at or near the signal's entry price
  3. Immediately place a SL-M sell order at -5%
  4. Set a GTT (Good Till Triggered) limit sell order at +4% for your target

If you're not sure about a signal: Check the FAQ. We also explain why we don't share the exact reasoning behind each signal (it would lead to front-running, inflating the entry price before our users can buy).

The Signals You Won't See

AIRV deliberately does NOT signal:

  • Stocks already up 5%+ on the day before our signal
  • Stocks with earnings announcements within 2 days
  • Stocks flagged as operator-driven (abnormal volume patterns)
  • Any stock below our minimum liquidity threshold

These filters are invisible to you, but they significantly reduce the risk of entering bad trades.

Tracking Your Signals

Everything is visible on your dashboard:

  • All signals generated today
  • Order placement status (filled / not filled / failed)
  • Open positions with current P&L
  • Historical signal performance

Pro users also get a weekly performance email with win rate, average return per signal, and comparison to Nifty 50 benchmark.
